Caribbean Vacation: How to Find Affordable Accommodation

Finding affordable accommodation could bring about the success or failure of your vacation plans. By far, you will likely spend a big chunk of your travel budget on room and board. Whether your need is for a room at a bed and breakfast inn, a suite at a five-star hotel, or a villa at a seaside resort — the expense is not one you can take for granted. And how you go about planning for this expense will go a long way in how you remember your vacation.

If you balk at the charges on your bill at check-out time, how will you feel a year later when planning your next vacation? Not positive, most likely. But you can choose to remember your exciting romps: swimming in the Caribbean sea, diving from a spectacular height overlooking lush green mountains, haggling with gritty sellers at an outdoor market, or bicycling with your family through mountainous regions.

Such memories only linger because you planned your vacation well. Travel planning involves getting the proper information on where to stay. You need to know what the basic daily rate includes. Is an Internet connection extra? Are local calls free? Does the cost of meals include tips? What if you decide to stay one more day? What’s the maximum number of people to a room? Is there a surcharge for singles in a double room? Write down all the questions you can think of. E-mail the hotel or property with questions not answered in the available literature. Book your room only after you’ve answers to your most pressing concerns.

Remember: use travel brochures to feed your imagination for your vacation. Put them in a paper bag. Sit on the bag when planning accommodation needs for your vacation. A good travel brochure gets you emotionally involved with the hotel or villa you plan to rent. Once you’re on this level it is easy to buy services that you wouldn’t normally buy. Even worse, you are likely to buy services you don’t know you’re buying.

On the other hand, if you know certain facts about various properties before, you would be in a better position to make a sound decision. Of course, You’ll only know some details after your vacation begins. That’s fine. Surprises make life interesting.

At some point you need to stop planning. It is a different time for everybody. That’s the time, however, you book your hotel room, villa, or apartment. It is also the time you feel confident you have paid the best price for the best room you could afford. And, no doubt, you’ll remember the good times you had staying at your chosen vacation property.
