Caribbean Vacation: Planning a Family Reunion
Part 2: Time
In Part 1 we considered various motives we could explore before coming up with a suitable location that will suit most family members time and budget. Let us continue by looking at when is the best time of the year to hold your reunion.
Hold a family reunion when it is affordable for most family members. So, to ensure a good turnout, your best bet is in the low peak travel season.
Not all your family will come, no matter where it is held. Some can easily pay their expenses. Others may struggle to come up with the airfare. Still, others may not see value in making the trip. Consider all possible objections. Once you consider them, plan a time during the low travel season. That is, when the tourists start returning to the cold.
During the low season, resorts, hotels and other touristy places are more than likely to offer your group cheap prices.
Planning for a Caribbean reunion is a breeze. You have a choice of either HOT and WET or HOT and DRY. In other words, you can have a hot, rainy day, or a hot day with no rain.
There’s a third choice: WARM and DRY. Most Caribbean days fall in this category. Blue skies with a cool tropical breeze mixing with the sun. We can tell you what the weather will hold during reunion, but, at least you have three excellent scenarios.
Here’s a suggested list of activities for your family reunion:
- banquet
- visit museums
- visit bird sanctuaries
- beach volley ball
- water-skiing
- story telling
- beach lime (party)
- shopping
- local entertainment
- beach barbecue
- carnival parades
- auto races
- boat races
We have covered the basics of planning your reunion. And most of your family members showed up for the event. Now lighten up … start enjoying yourself. This is the day you were waiting for. It is here. GO get yourself a stiff drink (orange juice) and let’s party!
