Caribbean history is rich with drama, revolution, irony, political oppression, and a hardened people. Your vacation will not be the same if you expose yourself to the colorful accounts you will find in the Caribbean.
Before you begin your vacation, take the time to find out important facts about the various islands - each rich in its history — merely footprints in the sands of time. There’s so much to know about this region and what makes the people tick. What makes them so hospitable. What makes them seem relaxed and carefree.
Of course, the more you know about another man’s home, the more you will enjoy your journeys. People will like you because you care about their history. Because you took the time before your trip to read up on what’s important to them.
But there’s another reason to indulge yourself in the Caribbean’s history. Children are always curious about people and places, moreso than adults. During their travels apart from the well-worn phrase, “Are we there yet?” they want to know, for instance, why cars drive on a side of the street different from the side in their hometown? Why do some people carry trays of bananas, oranges, mangoes, and other fruits, on their heads? What are the names of the languages they hear the locals speaking, and so on?
You can probably think of many more reasons for knowing a few facts about where your vacations take you. But here’s a good motivator to get you started.

I don’t know if you are like me — more mental than physical. I get a rush of adrenaline when I am planning a holiday. So much so sometimes I feel let down during the trip.
Nevertheless, Caribbean travels come with much fun and adventure. Hopefully you’re a “let’s-do-it” kind of person. It bodes well for an exciting journey in the sun.
