The carnival celebrations in Trinidad and Tobago wind up today amidst the glamor and pageantry it is famous for. This is the time the streets of the capital, Port of Spain fill with happy revelers who chip their way to the grandstands for competition. This year’s celebrations began early in the new year with calypso tents opening and musicians, masqueraders, and a host of other people getting ready for the big jump up on the two days before Ash Wednesday.
Come Ash Wednesday, the island will settle down as the party goers chill out after the hectic two months. Many of these will head for the beaches and some salty water in the Caribbean Sea.
