Caribbean Vacation: Let the African Children’s Choir Inspire Your Caribbean Vacation

Last night I enjoyed listening and seeing the African Children’s Choir, a 26-person ensemble of male and female children from Kenya and Uganda. The delightful children, ages 8-12, played to a packed church of more than 1,000 people at the Community Christian Reformed Church in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.

Their fast pace and energetic performance reminded me of the choreography you see while on a caribbean vacation. Many of the dance movements you see in the Caribbean come from the African past of the islanders. You will also notice the islanders have the same electric vibrations in their singing and performing.

Whenever you get the opportunity to see this vibrant musical show, you should take it because you will come away with a deeper understanding of humanity. Also, you can help the children raise funds to continue their education in their respective countries, and better the lives of countless children who live in subhuman environments on the African continent.

The concert is free but you can show your support by giving money, buying Cds and Dvds of their previous performances, t-shirts, or you can sponsor a child in one of those countries. This is a good business model because it allows the children to give something of value for the financial and moral help they receive from citizens in many nations such as Canada, USA, United Kingdom, and France.

You cannot adopt any of the children in the show because they go back to their homes and a new group comes on tour every 15 months. This group is the 30th edition of the African Children’s Choir.

The African Children’s Choir is a must see for those who like singing, for those who like African drumming, for those who like dancing, and for those who like children. Here’s a sample of what you will get when you attend a concert with these children of the heart.

Caribbean Vacation Without an iPhone Sucks!

Well, the much-awaited iPhone landed in Canada yesterday but it left many disappointed shoppers who thought they would buy their iPhone before stocks ran out. Stock did run out at the reseller’s flagship store on Yonge St. in Toronto leaving many early buyers with a loud ring in their air.

The company, Rogers Company, had promised their customers breakfast as they lined up like vultures ready to pounce on easy prey. But all they got for breakfast was a granola bar. Well, at least the company was thoughtful of the animals who die everyday as humans satisfy their need for their meat. A granola bar is a lot better than a double cheeseburger with fries and a sprinkling of salt and animal fat.

I met Jason, one of the disappointed shoppers who left on plane for a caribbean vacation Singles cruise this morning. He had hoped to take his new iPhone 8GB with him as he soaked up the sun in St. Lucia and many other touristy islands. Poor Jason will just have to settle for the outdated Nokia N95 model he bought six months ago. But he warned that he still wants an iPhone because it is the gadget to have today.

True, American buyers had the iPhone for a while as Apple limited their distribution south of the border. Now that Apple is shipping to many more countries it is likely the demand will soar and competition will heat up. There are already two options in Canada for the iPhone. Pity, Jason didn’t think that one of them would have made a splash on the beach just like the iPhone. After all, most people in St. Lucia may never see or use the current model iPhone. In fact, they will settle for a look-alike phone just to impress their friends.

But I understand where Jason is coming from. When he returns to Toronto next week, he will have to compete with the young, savvy people of his ilk, and you don’t do that with a look-alike Apple iPhone.

I got to run, my iPhone is ringing!

Running a Caribbean Vacation Singles Club

Running a small business is no small challenge. Everyday you have to put up with the unexpected and waste time and money on events you have no control over. How many times can you repeat the same steps in a given month when service providers don’t take their tasks seriously They give you shoddy work or create unreasonable delays with their work.

Running a small business means you have to wear all the hats until you make enough money to hire good staff. But hiring staff doesn’t always turn out too well if the people don’t buy into your dream. And here is where everything falls down because you should not expect a stranger to buy into your dream. It is one of those wishes that most employers don’t see.

For example, let say you are running a caribbean vacation Singles online dating service. You hire a coordinator to make sure your clients get the service they need so they can return. You also want them to share their good experiences with their friends and other people they meet. However, if your coordinator treats your clients shabbily, they will leave your club in droves and tell everyone who will listen about your poor service. Bad news travels fast and you will see your investment decline rapidly.

But you have to go on and plan your business carefully so it will grow to the point where unprofessional providers don’t matter. If you can only hire one employee, and that employee has a bad attitude then you will likely face bad tidings. But if you grow so large that you can hire several people for different positions within your business then one bad apple will not cause too much disruption.

That sounds like a big challenge but it is doable. And you must think big to ensure you survive the negative thinkers.

Caribbean Vacation Singles: Hang Out With The Locals

Patience is a virtue many of us don’t have, or have too little. We frown at people and events if things do not go as we want them, or if they hold us back from getting those sassy perks we dream about.

Sometimes on the Caribbean Islands do face some delays that wouldn’t risk your trip or cause you to arrive late for an event. Often, events do not always start on time in the Caribbean. Perhaps it is because the people in charge take their time before coming to grips with the moment. In other cases, it might just be a case of miscalculating how much time it would take to get an event started.

The point of this is simple. You cannot push the people while you are on a caribbean vacation. You will waste your energy trying to get them to move as you do act in your metropolitan city. It is a different culture, one that thrives on enjoying the finer moments of life.

If you don’t believe me, spend some time hanging out where the locals lime (hang out) and notice the things they pay attention to. Note carefully everything comes slanted in jest and will not survive to hear the roosters crowing at the new dawn.

When you land on the Caribbean islands, you should think about relaxation and not frustration. After all, isn’t that is what a vacation is all about. Leave your smart phones and smart ways at home and go chill out under a palm tree close to the calm waters of the Caribbean Sea.

Of course, patience is something you have to practice before you get good at it. So your best bet is to put yourself in places where you will learn how to cope with other people’s faults. For example, when you get to the airport and you hear your flight will leave later than scheduled because the plane touched down late. Take it in stride and order a large glass of orange juice from the juice bar at the airport. It will make you feel calm and in control.

That’s a start, now continue practicing when you land on the island and see how long it takes to get your luggage from the airplane.

You can find patience on many Caribbean holidays.

Shut Up You’re Ruining My Caribbean Vacation

Well, only last week I wrote about the iphone and other smart phones. While some smart phones are available in Canada, the Canadian market has been shut out from the iphone. But as technology goes, Apple will sell the iphone on the Canadian market this summer.

Not only will Canucks get to take their iphone on a caribbean vacation, vacationers from twenty other countries will also have this option. Imagine the pristine beaches of these small islands strewn with iphones. What is more disconcerting is the constant chatter the quiet people like myself will have to endure as these phonemongers hug the quiet space.

The news gets even better for the rank-and-file tourists. Apple has decided to sell their smart phone for less than $200. This is obviously in the range of mass appeal, which I am sure those who bought before the tidal wave will soon regret. That’s right, they can no longer claim the iphone as a status symbol.

Soon, we will have to find a way to recycle these iphones, as buyers trade their old one for a new one. Enjoy your stay at the inn.

Should You Take Your Iphone on Your Caribbean Vacation?

Many years ago I met a young woman who decide to give me her contact information. Before I made my first call she put me through the “database syndrome” That is she rattled off several different numbers I could use to reach her. After she spewed her facts and figures I had the proverbial headache. I am sure you have met a few people like this in your travels.

The thing is in those days there was just your landline from the traditional and monopolistic telephone companies. And there was the cell phone which had a separate number plus you had an office number, voice mail number, and other numbers I eventually forgot.

I don’t remember calling this person even once because I get confuse and tune out when people try to make things too complex for my little gray matter. So the thought of spending time on a caribbean vacation became a serious consideration as she scribbled her important information.

Fast-forward today and you have several smartphones available for people who try to make themselves look important. The cell phone takes the cake but the iphone, blackberry, and a host of other communication gadgets have hit the market in recent years. So far the iphone is not available in Canada but chatty phone users are licking their chops waiting for the day when they can put their fluid lips to one.

Many people are deciding to drop their landline in favor of mobile communications. This serves to pollute common spaces with constant chatter by insensitive people.

Imagine having your intimate details shared on a bus while your friend or sibling seeks relief from boredom. Smartphones are wonderful if used properly, but most people see them as fads and unknowingly annoy other travelers.

So if you need relief from modern communications, decide to spend some time romping on the beaches in the sunny Caribbean. It is a great way to get away from the fuss that we call communication today.

Enjoy Vegan Chicken on Your Caribbean Vacation

KFC Canada, the chain of fast-food outlets that sell the Kentucky Chicken brand settled with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) about how it would raise and eventually kill chickens that end on your plate.

This is a big win for the animals and birds that live under cruel conditions because we invest in them to satisfy our appetite for meat. We mistakenly believe that if we don’t eat meat we will not get enough protein in our diet. But studies have shown this to be false and we can have a vegan dish and get all the protein we need.

Now you will still get chicken at your favorite restaurant on your caribbean vacation. But bear in mind that PETA will focus its attention in other countries including the United States now that it has won big in Canada.

The Canadian franchise hasn’t been doing too well financially, and the five-year boycott of its stores must have played a major part in its decision. But whatever the reason millions of chickens on KFC farms will live in less crowded cages, a big issue for animal-rights groups. The company will also phase out non-essential drugs and hormones that fatten the birds for the kill.

Sadly, this is a negotiated settlement, so farmers will still raise chickens for food. However, KFC promises to only buy from suppliers who use gas rather than the more cruel methods for slaughter. The KFC outlets will also serve a vegan ‘chicken’.

Vegan ‘chicken’ is a soy based product that includes nutrients for good health. This delicious dish comes in breast fillets, nuggets, or strips similar to animal products, and has the taste and texture of real chicken . You can use it in a sandwich, wrap, or in stews.

The good thing about vegan ‘chicken’ is no one has to kill a chicken to make such yummy food. Try one on your vacation in the islands where birds are the mainstay of many backyards.

The Key to a Great Caribbean Vacation

How many keys do you walk around with daily? There is a key for almost everything today. We have become so protective of our belongings that we lock them up with chains, padlocks, and sophisticated computer locks.

Society is no longer what it used to be. We mostly left our doors unlocked, our toys and gadgets strewn out on the ground or floor after playing with them, and kept our money in a small jar under the mantle or some other safe place. But no more, we now have to lock everything up and keep the keys in our immediate possession.

So it is time we take a break from our obsession with keys. But that is farther from the truth because even when we go on a caribbean vacation, our keys still dangling from the long chain on our belt. Or in our handbags or overnight bags we take with us on our vacation.

But seriously, we don’t need to carry our keys when we go to spend some quality time in the sun. Remove all the keys you won’t need on your vacation. That includes every key in your security zone except the key to your front door or a side door of your home. You can also take the car keys if you decide to drive to the airport, but remember to leave a copy in a safe place just in case you lose the original.

Now where should you hide your keys when you are on vacation? You can try leaving them in a safety box at your hotel or resort, or find somewhere to hide them in your luggage. You could also try securing them on your person when you go out gallivanting.

Knowing what to take on your vacation is the key to a happy and safe holiday.

Out of Sight, Out of Mind Caribbean Vacation

Out of Sight, Out of Mind caribbean vacation

Recently I have been reading about the breakup between Canada’s Shania Twain and the record producer John “Mutt” Lange. Can you imagine living in a 40-room mansion in an isolated area in Switzerland? Well, that’s where the couple lived with their 6-year old son since 2000. The full story is not out yet. But it is a sure bet that Shania, reeling from the betrayal of her best friend, who insiders say caused the split, will head for some sun and soul-searching on a Caribbean Vacation.

Well, Twain, fondly called Timmins Rose by her hometown natives will adorn the beaches of the Caribbean for sure, but whether she gets the right message after soaking up some salt water is another thing.

Many gifted people including musicians, athletes, writers, and many more surround themselves with luxury and isolation beyond compare. They believe that having everything at their whim and fancy will propel them into everlasting bliss. Of course, it lasts for some time, in Shania’s case, 14 years. But, as most people in the islands know, nothing lasts forever. Eventually, your fate will catch up with you and you will have to run for cover as you feel threatened by an uncertain future.

So I strongly suggest the lovely and talented singer book a holiday to the Caribbean. It does not matter which island she lands on because they all will give her the same royal treatment. When she gets there have her people book her on a tour of the landscape. Visit the homes of people who live on these islands. Look carefully at the number of rooms in their house and how many times they meet with one another in a short period of time.

Perhaps that is the reason the people on the islands say: “Out of sight, out of Mind.”

Avoid the Devil on Your Caribbean Vacation

Traveling to your favorite caribbean vacation spot could be fun if you like computers, and the technology airlines use to get you on board an aircraft. Imagine you are one of those people who swear that you will never use computers because you think they are the devil’s work. Well you have a point but it does not apply to the use of computers but to details in what you are experiencing. You may have heard the saying: “The Devil is in the details” when referring to something that has gotten so complicated even the diabolical king would get stress over it.

What I am talking about is not about stress but helping you avoid the hellish behavior that comes with checking in for a flight to anywhere. When you think how easy it is for you to check in with your flight using nifty technology, you will love it. Checking in this way means you don’t have to stand in a long line waiting for your time to have the clerk examine your personal details.

Once you know your flight details, you can log in to a special site on your computer from home or the office or even from an Internet cafe. After entering your flight information, the virtual assistant checks you in leaving you free to go about your business before you set off for the crowded airport. When you get to the airport, you go to a special desk and the service people take care of your luggage.

Of course, if you were too busy to do the remote check in before arriving at the airport, you can check you in just as well at the terminal. You do so by inserting your ticket into a special machine and it updates your status to “ready to travel.”

Now isn’t that exciting. Buckle your seat belt as you head for your favorite Caribbean island.
